1) Dr K G Davies collaborates with Prof Ming Sun, based at the Microbiology Department at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Wuhan, and is an expert on Bacillus thuringiensis, a bacterium that produces toxins that kill insect pests. Dr Davies gave an invited lecture on Pasteuria penetrans, and was involved in training students in aspects of nematology and biological control.
2) Dr K G Davies has recently visited Prof Shixiang Bao, based at the Institute of Tropical Bioscience and Biotechnology (CATAS), Haikou, to train students in the use of Pasteuria penetrans as a biological control agent of root-knot nematodes on black pepper Piper nigrum.
